Last time we talked about dynamic shots, let’s backtrack a bit to bring up polishing in general…and background animations in particular!
Last time I introduced prince Griselde and his subliminal dagger (sorry but it’s true), so let’s move on to the next candidate: Thalie!
Minor spoilers ahead: the setting and characters of the route are revealed.
At first I did not plan to write about programming at all, but then it struck me during the Kickstarter campaign that it was actually a much needed talk so here goes!
This preview includes some dynamic shots as well as multiple examples of the zoom in action
As I mentioned last time, Chronotopia: Second Skin is divided in several routes, each corresponding to a different strategy to escape the castle. What I didn’t say is that, even though she won’t be able to romance all of them, Kionna will encounter several princes depending on which route you’re reading. So I figured it would be nice to be a little more familiar with those dreamboats~
Minor spoilers ahead: the setting and characters of the route are revealed.
By now I have introduced most important characters in Chronotopia: Second Skin so let’s talk about a less obvious subject: game structure.
As a writer, I tend to include it as a secondary element that completes the plot; it’s rarely my focus. Thus at first I was a little hesitant to use common visual novel labels for Chronotopia as the whole genre relies heavily on the exploration of romantic relationships. But in the end it’s still an integral part of the story as Kionna will indeed be able to pursue in a fairly traditional way three different love interests: her childhood friend Nahima (GirlxGirl), the mysterious Fairy (GirlxGirl) and the « true Prince » whose identity has not been revealed (GirlxBoy).
Now that all of Chronotopia‘s main characters are introduced, I’d like to talk a bit about the king but, more importantly, about the three dresses from the fairytale!
No more goofing around, today is serious business! Last time, I talked in more detail about Nahima’s character so it would only be right to finally address her counterpart and the second romance option of the game: the Fairy.
Minor spoilers ahead: the theme of the Fairy’s route is revealed.
Now that we introduced two of the main characters, we can take a look at where they live: the castle!
